Inframammary Incision (also known as Crease or Fold Incision)
The inframammary Incision may be the most common breast augmentation incision used by plastic surgeons. Your plastic surgeon makes this incision just above the fold of the underside of the breast (called inframammary fold or crease). The inframammary incision can be used to place breast implants above or below the muscle. It can also be used for silicone gel or saline breast implants. In addition, implant removal (also known as explantation) can be performed through the inframammary incision. So many plastic surgeons prefer this method because proper implant placement is critically important and this incision gives plastic surgeons the most precision with breast implant placement. The obvious disadvantage of this method is the visible scar underneath the breast.
